This piece of photo manipulation is part of a collection called Elements. As I learned how to do new things in photoshop, new inspirations came to me. This is a personal picture of myself with the intent of manipulation. I had been inspired to work with the common elements as a form of magic or superpower, and wondered what sort of power I would want. In the end i decided on having powers relating to fire.
I had to do a lot of research in order to figure out how to create the effect I wanted. I knew that I wanted to illustrate flames coming out of my arms, and pouring power into a surface. I used the techniques I learned on how to make skin looked cracked and applied it here against a solid wall. I used a brush to create the orange glow. I applied a separate cracked image to my arms to create the illusion of fire breaking open the skin. I darkened my arms to appear charred, then I added the flames to the picture to finalize it.
This is my favorite image to both work with and design. It was designed for my facebook page, staying completely digital and not a printout design.
